Community Outreach Services

The Arkansas Arts Center does not exist just within the walls of our building in MacArthur Park. With our Touring State Services programs, auxiliary gallery at the airport and through our Community Outreach, the Arts Center strives to ensure that art is happening across Central Arkansas and the entire state.

Within the central Arkansas region, Community Outreach features innovative collaborations that deliver arts programming to numerous audiences. The School Partnership Program is a multi-year pilot project that includes five schools. Arkansas Arts Center Docents are paired with teachers at both private and public schools. Each Docent arranges educational programs and exhibition tours that are tailored to each teacher's curriculum. The program fosters long-term relationships with schools. The program introduces the Arts Center as a source for life-long learning.

The Arts Center also collaborates with BOOST to provide arts instruction that culminates in elaborate creative projects. Students design and create under the supervision of Sharon Boyd-Struthers, the 1999 Arkansas Art Educators Elementary Teacher of the Year. BOOST is the Little Rock School District Homeless Education Program.

For information about these and other programs, call the Education office at 396-0367.
