Junior Arts Academy
This annual summer program has been providing both visual and theatrical arts instruction to 6-9 year olds for over 20 years. Inspired by the exhibition, Earthly Delights: Modern and Contemporary Highlights from the Collection, the AAC Children's Theatre and Museum School are proud to offer students fun and creative classes that explore connections to the earth through the arts!
During Junior Arts Academy, the elements of art, design, and nature will be used as seeds to produce original artworks and performances. Students will explore color and pattern in nature, discover ways the earth can be used as both the brush and the background, and find creative uses for discarded and found objects. Through this fun exploration, they will gain lasting understandings of their world!
The two-week program runs from 9a to 5p every day, Monday-Friday. The session culminates with Play & Display where young thespians perform original, short PLAYS on the Children's Theatre Main Stage, and in the Arkansas Arts Center Lower Lobby, promising visual artists DISPLAY the work they have created.
