Join fellow Arkansas Art Educators for this two-day professional development experience that will enhance your artistic and classroom practices. Combining intensive studio sessions and gallery exploration of the Delta, National Drawing Invitational, and Permanent Collections, this workshop will explore the idea of color and dimension. The workshop will provide 12 hours of professional development. Cost includes most materials, breakfast, and lunch. Additional materials are suggested.

Day One
~
Session One: the colors of pastel
Virmarie DePoyster, acclaimed pastel artist, will lead us through an exploration of material and color to push, not only your levels of creating expressive art, but your student’s expression, as well.

Session Two: Gallery Exploration
Building upon the morning experience, we will visit the galleries to explore innovative drawing technique, color as a dialogue, and teaching techniques to increase student understanding of art that exists!

Day Two
~
Session Three: painting with glass
Glass instructor, Donnell Williams, will walk you through fused-glass art with an emphasis on color, design, and story-telling. This experience will continue to push your thinking about color as an artistic form of communication and incorporate design, as well as safe glass techniques!

Session Four: Thinking in three dimensions
Using the expressive craft collection of the Arkansas Arts Center, participants will explore the social issues expressed in non-traditional media.

Lunch and snacks are provided. A certificate of participation will be given at the end of the second day.
